Mae Velour is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter currently residing in the Mojave Desert in Southern California.
Getting her start as front woman of north London-based rock band “Static” Mae began writing songs in 2021. Deeply inspired by both classic and indie rock music as well as literature and films, Mae began performing her own solo music both acoustically and with a fully band in 2023. She has been on the bill for gigs and festivals across the US and UK, performing at various London venues, as well as RhinoFest in Chicago, Dust and Decibels festival in Southern California and at solo gigs in Boston, San Diego, New York and Los Angeles.
Mae recently returned from Margate in England where she attended a songwriting retreat lead by Cart Barat of the Libertines.
She released single Bat Country, a “hallucinatory nightmare telling the story of one woman’s journey through the fading echoes of the American Dream” in March 2025 and is in the process of recording an album at Coyote Run Studios in Joshua Tree, CA.
Mae has composed scores to short films “Acid Casualty” and “Bat Country” and performs regularly on bass or keyboards in various bands including Blood Nebraska, Hot Girl Monday, Els Dove and Mikey Summers.
Mae is also a screenwriter and co-founder of film production company Off Hand Co. She has written 10+ films and directed short “Dead Set on Stardom” in 2025.
